An 11 year civil war in Sierra Leone devastated the West African nation's educational infrasturcture, destroying schools, displacing teachers and creating a severe shortage of teaching materials. When the war ended in 2002, an entire generation was left without education or employment skills. Today, classrooms in Sierra Leone are overcrowded and dirty, and schools frequently lack latrines and clean water.
Education is critical to Sierra Leone's future. New schools uplift communities and give children an opportunity for a better life. They attract qualified teachers and provide adults with the basic math and literacy skills needed to run small businesses. New schools infuse villages with pride and give the people of Sierra Leone renewed hope for a brighter future.
Schools for Salone is revitalizing communities and improving socioeconomic conditions for children, families and future generations since 2004. By constructing new schools throughout Sierra Leone, we are helping people help themselves.
We are building futures, one village at a time.
Schools for Salone’s mission is to partner with communities to construct schools and improve education in Sierra Leone.
Because education is the hope for the future and because we believe self-initiated solutions are the most effective, Schools for Salone seeks partnerships to create healthy learning environments in Sierra Leone.
To build schools and enhance educational infrastructure.
To support teachers and students.
To provide material support when necessary.
