Schools for Salone is a nonprofit organization that partners with local villages in Sierra Leone to rebuild the educational infrastructure devastated in the ten-year long civil war that ended in 2002. We seek to revitalize communities, empower children and ultimately improve socioeconomic conditions for families, communities, and future generations. Through opportunities that only an education can provide, we strive to break the cycle of poverty, one school at a time...
Schools for Salone's major focus is to help build and repair schools.
Schools for Salone is building relationships between children in US schools and children in Sierra Leone schools to foster learning and understanding.
Every year, 1 or more Schools for Salone Board Members and friends travel to Sierra Leone at their own expense to monitor projects, make new contacts, and foster relationships.
To be successful, the schools that we build need on-going support, supplies and Teacher Training.
